The Person

You will only meet a few people in your lifetime that have such a true passion for travel and connecting cultures as he does. Daniel brings a tremendous amount of energy and enthusiasm into travel & development. His development is focused on the greater cause of education & enrichment of both host and guest. 

 

Daniel links sustainable tourism development with his other passion for photography and film. The combination of development & imaging results in targeted content that can be seamlessly integrated into marketing strategies.  Travel agencies and Tourism Boards worldwide use his products, images & videos for web content and marketing of their destinations.

The Journey

It was not until my 20th birthday that I developed an interest for the international life. After my first adventure as an exchange student in China in 2002, the traveling never stopped. Indonesia followed soon afterwards where I finalized my internship and graduation thesis in International Tourism Management. In 2004 I decided on a definite move to Asia. It became Cambodia, a country that was going through lots of positive developments at that time. For a young and energetic person like me, Cambodia offered all the opportunities and adventures needed to develop myself as a professional in the tourism sector regionally. Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam also became part of my portfolio and places I developed a soft spot for.

 

Outside of one year in Vietnam, I remained in Cambodia until 2018 before I moved back to The Netherlands. Having children requires certain needs that can not always be found in the developing world. Giving my children a well respected education in The Netherlands will allow them to grow in life. It will provide them the knowledge and freedom to make the choices I was able to make in life.

The vision

Everyone needs to benefit. It sounds so simple but when people talk about benefit, most people only link the word to financial benefits. To me, benefit means to be able to grow and become independent. It means to include everyone involved and those involved need to be able to grow their knowledge and ability. You want to create an environment where the host can provide, not only to the guest, but also to the family and environment. 

 

To develop tourism products is very personal. I create from my own perception and add my imagination and the needs of the local community. My creations are from a different perspective than the mainstream products, much like my pictures and movies are: I develop experiences without losing sight of reality. 

 

With the right research, mindset and expectation you can create experiences and imaging that will WOW your audience. You want people to relate to your products and imaging, rather than believing it is out of reach. To me that creates a reality where even niche travelers can find themselves in.
